On the Bridge to see the sunset.
From Madou(麻豆) to Shahua(善化) District, you need to cross a big bridge, it's called Madou-Shahua Bridge. Long time ago this bridge was voted for one of the most beautiful secret spot to visit on the internet. But for the local people like me, it's a place to exercise.
If you get the chance to ride a bike or electric scooter, when going from Madou to Shanhua, don't get onto the bridge, choose the right small path.
To the end, turning right is the quicker way to go to Tainan. You can also use the levee to have a good run there, but there's not so much shade there.
Usually people would like to turn left to exercise on the leeve.
When you go up to the leeve, you will find some parking area. Then you can start your running.
It's a sign talking about if you walk around 10,000 steps every day, you will be healthy. And this sign also show how long the distance is along the waling track. An important thing behind the sign is made by the police station, don't leave your money or personal valuables on your vehicles. Remember to lock your vehicles. Well, Taiwan is comparative safer place in the world. but there's still some bad guys fooling around. Just in case, doing some things to protect yourself and stuffs. I never bring valuable things when I just go for a run.
When you run almost to the end, you can see Taiwan Hign Speed Rail(THSR) passing by, unfortunately Chiayi ot Tainan Stations of THSR are both one hour drive from Madou District.
Talking about the river, it's call Zengwun River (曾文溪), the fourth longest river in Taiwan. It's originally from Alishan Range(阿里山山脈), there's the biggest reservoir: Zengwun Reservoir(曾文水庫).
An interesting story about the Zengwun River in Tainan is that if you check the map, you will find Zengwun River separates Tainan into two part. North-river side and South-river side. For most of the North- river side was belong to Tainan County, the lifstyle is ruraler. And most of the South-river side was belong to Tainan City, the life style is more urban. Even though Tainan County and Tainan City are already combined together since 2010, the people, living between the two part, their life style are still the same.
Therefore, thinking of Madou District is belong to North-river side, it's no wonder after 10pm lots of shops in Madou are already closed.
The view from Shanhua to Madou District, the leeves there is not so recommended to go. But, if you get time, have a walk on the bridge, you will see many beautiful sceneries.
