Public Transportation by Tainan Bus: Orange 10 (Zongye Sugur Refinery stop)
Tsung-Yeh, or Zongye, both of them mean the same thing: 總爺。 The name is derived from Qing dynasty, a police station (kind of) was called 總爺,so the name has being used for houndreds of years.
Long time agoe, here is sugur refinery, but time goes by. Now it becomes art and cultural centre. Around the entrance, you can see an old train engine locomotive. It's for the memory of being used for transporting surgar cane, making the sugar.
It's next to the entrance. Crickets are holding the concert. I recommend come here in the night time. You can see different kind of concert holding by the crickets...
When I was child, here was just a local park. Nothing special here. But, one day, local people and the goverment found that it is very important to preserve the historical site. So they step by step refurbished this place. Now it became art and cultural center.
Red-brick Office.
Red-brick dining hall.
Wooden guest house.
Wooden offical residence.
All of the four building are built during Japanese colonial period, for the sugar factory. Now they are being used for the exhibition. Before you come here, you can check the offical website what kind of exhibition is inside.
Actually I don't deny that it's still a park. On the weekends, you can see many parents bring their children to here. And there's Saturday and Sunday market here. You can find some traditional snack and hand-made crafts. Nearby there's an small artist village.
What will give you a big surprise is that around 2012 or some time here's one-night fashion show. The models used the narrow path as catwalk. That night there were hundrends of people coming to here. A big events for the local place.
If you are getting thirsty, don't miss the traditional flavor balck tea in the shop. Pay Nt$20 to have a taste. My friend from other city like this. For me maybe it's too common since I was child...
Btw, if you are still playing Pokemon Go, it's also a good spot. When this game just came to Taiwan, you could see lots of "Zombie" in the nigt...So far there's still some people coming here for the game.
Hope you will have a good time in the Big park. Or... Art and Cultural center~
